01 Overview
FUI GPA & CGPA Calculator ("the app") is developed by Aqeel Abbas for students of Foundation University Islamabad to calculate their Semester GPA (SGPA) and Cumulative GPA (CGPA). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is stored, and the choices you have. The app does not use any external backend or cloud database — everything you enter stays on your device unless this policy specifically says otherwise.
02 Data we collect
The app is built to collect as little as possible. In total, it may handle:
- Account details you create yourself (name, email, password) if you sign up with email/password.
- Basic profile info (name, email, profile photo) if you choose to continue with Google Sign-In.
- Course marks, credit hours, and calculated GPA/CGPA results that you manually enter.
- Standard, non-personal advertising identifiers used by Google AdMob to display ads (see Section 5).
The app does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or files unless you explicitly grant that permission for a feature that requires it.
03 Account & sign-in data
If you sign up with email and password, your password is never stored in plain text. It is salted and hashed on your device before being saved, meaning the app itself cannot read your original password back.
If you choose "Continue with Google," authentication is handled by Android's Credential Manager and Google's own sign-in system. The app only receives the basic profile details Google shares (such as your name and email) to create your local account — it does not receive your Google password.
04 Local storage & history
Your account details and saved GPA/CGPA calculation history are stored in a local database on your device only (using Android's Room database). Your current sign-in session is remembered locally using Android's DataStore. None of this data is transmitted to any server operated by the developer, because the app does not operate one.
05 Advertising (AdMob)
The app displays banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob to support free access to the app. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers (such as your Android Advertising ID), approximate location, and app usage data to serve and measure ads. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by the developer directly.
You can review or limit how Google uses this data through your device's Settings > Privacy > Ads options (for example, opting out of personalized ads), and can read Google's own practices in the Google Ads & Data policy.
06 Third-party services
The app relies on the following third-party services to function:
- Google AdMob — for banner and interstitial advertising.
- Google Sign-In / Credential Manager — for optional Google account sign-in.
Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy, in addition to this one, for the data it independently collects.
07 Data sharing & sale
The developer does not sell your personal data. The developer does not share your account details or saved GPA history with anyone, because that data never leaves your device in the first place. Data handled by AdMob is governed by Google's own policies as described in Section 5.
08 Security
Passwords are salted and hashed before storage, and all locally stored data is sandboxed to the app by Android's standard app security model. No method of storage is 100% guaranteed secure, but the app is designed to minimize what could ever be exposed by avoiding a remote database entirely.
09 Children's privacy
The app is intended for university students and is not directed at children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact the developer using the details in Section 12 so it can be removed.
10 Your choices
- You can use the app's calculators without creating an account or signing in.
- You can delete individual saved calculations from the History screen at any time.
- You can delete all local app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in device settings.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's ad settings.
11 Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the app changes, for example if a new feature introduces new data handling. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
